Kuala Lumpur set to host a grand showcase of cultural diversity this July
DUBAI – Malaysia is set to welcome travellers to one of its most vibrant cultural celebrations this summer as Citrawarna Malaysia 2026 (Colours of Malaysia) takes place from 24 to 26 July at Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur.
Organised as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, the festival will transform the capital’s historic centre into a showcase of the country’s diverse traditions, artistic expressions, cuisine and cultural heritage.
Held under the theme “The Rhythm. The Soul. The Nation.”, Citrawarna Malaysia 2026 will bring together performers, artists and cultural communities from across the country for a three-day celebration designed to highlight the many identities that shape Malaysia. The event will feature four signature experiences: Colours of Parade, Colours of Flavours, Colours of Art and Colours of Culture.
The festival is expected to become one of the key attractions under VM2026, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Malaysia’s multicultural character through performances, traditional showcases and immersive activities in one location.
Citrawarna Malaysia 2026
The centrepiece of Citrawarna Malaysia 2026 will be the Colours of Parade on 25 July, featuring contingents representing Malaysia’s states and cultural communities. The procession will showcase traditional costumes, music, dance performances and storytelling elements, creating a visual celebration of the country’s heritage and traditions.
The parade will highlight Malaysia’s cultural diversity, with communities presenting unique customs and artistic styles that have been preserved through generations.
